The big news is the availability of new powerplants. As well as conventional petrol and diesels, Ford's acclaimed 1.0-litre three-cylinder EcoBoost engine with 125bhp is a surprise fitment in such a large car.
Ford will also be making a four-door Mondeo in hybrid petrol-electric guise – Ford's first-ever hybrid passenger car in Europe. This combines a 2.0-litre petrol engine with a 35kW lithium-ion battery.
A four-wheel-drive Mondeo diesel will also be offered for the first time.
